Detached villa. Early C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, roof unseen.
PLAN: Double depth plan with two storey wing.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys and basement, two-window front to road, four-window front to garden. Street front projects forward to left with single window per floor, plat band, cornice and parapet; windows are six/six-pane tripartite windows. In front of recessed right-hand bay is and enclosed porch with coped parapet, cornice and frieze, stepped forward over engaged Tuscan columns, and enclosing a mid C19 four-panel door. A small circular window is above. Single tripartite window to second floor. Coped parapet sweeps up at right to meet higher parapet of south garden front, cornice stopped to right and returned to left.
The two left-hand Bays to four-window south garden front step forward with small octagonal stack to left hand corner; taller tripartite windows to right, probably stair windows, break through plat bands.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
HISTORY: An exceptionally tall house, making the most of this commanding hilltop position on the northern fringes of the city.
