of All Saints Churchyard

GV II*

Tomb of Thomas Warr Attwood (d.1775). By Thomas Baldwin. Bath stone. A chest tomb, situated to the south-east of the chancel, with a fluted frieze sporting bucrania; paterae with husks to the swept-in sides. Above is a tall urn, placed over an upswept base. The monument is set within exceptionally fine wrought iron railings with a spider¿s-web motif to front and ends. Listed for exceptional architectural and historic interest. Attwood was a prosperous plumber and glazier, who served as architect to the Corporation: he was accidentally killed while surveying the old market.
