GV II

Detached villa, now offices. Early C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar and coursed squared limestone, slate roof.
PLAN: Plain symmetrical range with lean-to at rear.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys, three windows, all sashes. First floor twelve-pane, ground floor tripartite four:twelve:four-pane, all to tooled sills, and ground floor with square block cornices on console brackets, as to door, flush panelled with transom light. Chamfered plinth, frieze band, cornice, blocking course and parapet. Lofty two stage ashlar stacks to coped gables. Left return has twelve-pane sashes at first floor and smaller one below, with blocked opening. Also has further stack.
INTERIOR: Ground floor windows have original shutters.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: From each end of the main front high wall with plain weathered coping comes forward to boundary, returning at each end to steep swept drop to ashlar dwarf wall, slightly set back, and formerly with railings. Central opening and returns to four sandstone steps. Form and detail of building very similar to adjacent Albert Villa (qv), obviously from the same developer's hand.
