Lamp post opposite path to Canal Bridge, between 29 and 30 Sydney Place, south side. II. GV

Cast iron lamp post. C1830. Base inscribed 'PARISH OF BATHWICK' with founder's name 'STOTHERT' at bottom. Shaft decorated with palm leaves, waterleaf band at foot, scrolled ladder rest. Lantern above is a modern replacement. A distinctive Neoclassical design, and of local manufacture too.
