Description

WORCESTER VILLAS,
656-1/18/2534 Larkhall

Nos.1-4 (Consec)
05/08/75

II

Terrace row. Early/mid C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar with Welsh slate roofs.
PLAN: Terrace of two handed pairs of narrow frontage double depth cottages.
EXTERIOR: Terrace of two pairs of narrow frontage double depth cottages. Two storeys, single window to each floor per house. All six/six sashes without architraves. Six panel doors with two bottom panels flush, rectangular light over. Deep eaves, plain roofs with shared ashlar stack with pots on party walls. Rear elevation not seen.
INTERIORS: Not inspected. No.1 restored in 1982; No.4 extended to rear in 1996. Another late Georgian development of relatively modest houses in this area, set back from the road behind front gardens, and relying on its crisp ashlar fronts and linear regularity for effect. A little altered row of artisan cottages set back charmingly from the road behind gardens.
