Pocock headstone in Smallcombe Cemetery

GV II

Headstone. c1924. Limestone and bronze. Panelled base supports cylinder which in turn carries roundel facing forward and framed by roll. Fronting this is a bronze relief of the Crucifixion, with doves, a winged seraph and kissing figures behind. Inscription to Ethel Pocock, died 1924. A memorial of unusual quality for period, and a late appearance of explicitly Christian symbolism on a monument.
