Hancock memorial in Smallcombe Cemetery

GV II

Memorial. c1863. Pennant stone. Neo-Classical style. Adaptation of Roman altar form. Plinth, moulded base, slightly tapered shaft with sunken inscription panels, topped by segmental cornice and cap. Supports draped vase with gadroons and cable mould. Inscription panel has laurel wreath and ribbon in relief over incised inscription to Edward Hancock, died 1863.
