Houses, in commercial use. c1815, with late C19 alterations to Nos 5 and 6, and post WWII repair to Nos 3 and 4.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, painted on ground floor to Nos 5 and 6, with pantile roofs to Nos 3 and 4, and Welsh slate roofs to Nos 5 and 6.
PLAN: Double depth plan.
EXTERIOR: Houses form twelve bays of fifteen-bay terrace, left hand end (three bays of No.2) post WWII rebuild following bomb damage and not included in listing. Nos 2-5 in one plane with continuous sill band at first floor level. No.6 set slightly forward, and has slightly greater floor heights. Semicircular headed doors with fanlights, six panel doors, paired to Nos 3 and 4, right handed to Nos 5 and 6. Wrought-iron area railings. Three windows to each house. All windows to Nos 3 and 4 are six/six sashes. No.5 has plain sashes on ground floor, two/two on first floor, and six/six on second floor. No.6 has all plain sashes, except second floor left is blind. Basement fronts of Nos 5 and 6 are altered. Cornice, parapet, mansard roof, three dormers to Nos 3 and 4, 2 each to Nos 5 and 6, all flat topped, all small paned sashes, except No.5 which has casements. Ashlar stacks, with pots except No.3. Rubble return to No.6.
INTERIORS: Not inspected.
HISTORY: This street lies on part of the former Manvers estate, sold in 1874. They are recorded as having been leased by John Allen in 1815.
