MATERIALS: the memorial is constructed from Ham stone.
DESCRIPTION: the memorial is approximately 3.6m high. It takes the form of a cross with cusped arms set on an octagonal shaft, below which is a tapering, square plinth on a three-stepped platform. The plinth is inscribed: REMEMBER / (NAMES OF THE FALLEN) / WHO FELL IN THE WAR 1914 – 1919 / MAY THEY REST IN PEACE / AND THOSE WHO FELL IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939 – 45 / (NAMES OF THE FALLEN).

The memorial was erected after the First World War, as part of the great wave of commemoration of the sacrifice made by the Fallen from communities across the country. It was set up in a prominent position on the main road through the village. After the Second World War, the names of the men of the parish who died in that conflict were added to the memorial.
Hambridge war memorial is listed at Grade II, for the following principal reasons:
* Historic interest: as an eloquent witness to the tragic impacts of world events on this community, and the sacrifices it made in the conflicts of the C20;
* Design: a well-executed stone cross.
