Mid 19th century, 2-storey over raised basement, 3-bay
house; all elevations symmetrical; harled with ashlar
margins and dressings.
North elevation; centre corniced door in slightly advanced
and open-pedimented centre bay; flanking tripartites in
outer ground floor bays.
South elevation; tripartites in outer bays of ground and
1st floors.
Single windows in centre of east and west gables in ground
and 1st floors; bracketted cills to all windows (taller
in ground floor); 4-pane glazing deep band course
encircles house, as lintel course for raised basement
windows; deep eaves course; modillioned eaves; ashlar end
corniced chimney batteries; piended slate roof.
Low ashlar coped retaining wall with decorative cast-iron
spearhead railings.
Formerly The Caledonian Bank. Appears to have been built
between 1852 and 1862; no mention of a Caledonian Bank in
the County Directory of 1852.
