Description

George Jack, dated 1903. Irregular south facing L-plan house,

mainly 2-storey and attic. All rubble with tooled ashlar dressings.Asymmetrical elevations, to

south of 5 bays punctuated at centre by later projecting

2-storey sun-room, flanked by 4 substantial gabled dormers. Single-storey porch masks entrance on E gable entered from

glazed verandah; porch lit by long multi-pane window, and

canted angle has datestone with carved relief of St Michael

and long poetic inscription in Gaelic.

Rear service court dominated by high, corbelled 3-storey

chimney gable incorporating small viewing platform, with

crowstepped wallhead and apex stack; multi-pane glazing;

slate roofs of varying pitches, at north sweeping to ground

floor as outshot broken by various gabled dormers.

Statement of Interest

Built by Miss C C Astley of Arisaig House. Gaelic poem

invokes blessings on house and residents.
