Late 18th century. Low 2-storey, 3-bay, end of terrace
house. Red sandstone rubble, rendered and lined to S,
formerly harled at side and rear, and with brick and
timber surrounds to openings. S (roadside) elevation
with bays grouped towards centre; doorway flanked by
windows at ground, and 3 1st floor windows breaking
eaves in flat-roofed dormerheads. Rear elevation with
doorway in former stair window at centre, small square
window under eaves above; bay to left in modern window
panel with brick surround; bay to right with ground
floor window and 1st floor breaking eaves in dormerhead.
Gable elevation with garage doors inserted at ground to
right, window to left; 1st floor window to right.
Higher eaves of 19th century house adjoining to E
(Ardshiel).
Variety of glazing patterns; 4-pane and horizontal-pane
in sash and case windows. Ashlar coped skews; brick
end stack. Red pantiles.
Listed for its early date, prime position and in context
of West Barns Inn to E, despite considerable
alterations.
