Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey S facing house of 3 bays on site

sloping downhill at left (W). Mixed rubble, tooled sandstone

ashlar dressings; whitewashed return gable to George Street

and single storey rear wing now converted as 2 garages (also whitewashed).

Centre door flanked by low ground floor windows of slightly

different size to accommodate slope; 1st floor windows in

outer bays only and single window in return gable; 9- and

12-pane glazing. Coped end stacks, graded Banffshire slate

roof; stone ridge.

INTERIOR: ground floor partially re-modelled. 1st floor

drawing room with panelled dado, window shutters and doors,

with both rectangular and octagonal beaded panels. Moulded

and reeded door frames, some with rosette dies on lintels.

Similar detailing to woodwork survives elsewhere in house.
