Description

Possibly W L Carruthers, circa 1900. Gothic lodge. Stugged
snecked rubble, tooled ashlar dressings. Single storey and
dormerless attic cruciform plan; symmetrical 3-bay S front
with centre projecting crowstepped gable with hoodmoulded
door with traceried fanlight; double-leafed Gothic panelled
doors; trefoil light above. S and gable windows hoodmoulded
with Y-tracery; small pointed-headed attic windows in E and
W gables; lattice glazing in upper lights; crowsteps; cross
at each gable apex; 3 centrally placed diamond flues; local
slate roof; stone ridge.
Wing to rear.

Statement of Interest

Design appears to be based on circa 1820 Porter's Lodge at

Pluscarden Abbey, by Elgin. Michael Kirk Lodge built by Lady

(Florence) Gordon-Cumming for Episcopalian Minister serving

Michael Kirk.
