Description

Later 19th century. Single storey stables. U-plan around
courtyard, square, 2-storey central tower. Stugged and
snecked red ashlar with polished dressings and bull-faced
quoins. Tower has round-headed pend, roll-moulded to
courtyard, with angle buttresses, stepped string moulding
below upper window and dummy gun loop; corbelled and
crenellated parapet raised above one angle to suggest cap
house. Singel dormer beside tower. Square-headed openings,
cart-garage openings with ornamental hinges; small-paned
windows. Former kennels in N wing gable; modern sliding doors
on W wall; glass-house on S wall of S wing. All roofed with
graded slates. Courtyard enclosed at E by quadrant walls
with ball-finialled square gatepiers.
