Description

William Burn, architect, circa 1830. Picturesque
single-storey cottage with outbuildings to north east.
Cottage: roughly L-plan, with gables, complex roof plan and
deeply projecting eaves; pink ashlar; south elevation:
shallow advanced 2-bay gable right, roof at left is
shallow-pitched and swept over canted bay to form verandah,
latter on cast-iron columns; door deeply recessed at left
(also below verandah). Small-paned sash windows; projecting
chimney breast on west gable with stack removed; axial stack
with 2 (? rebuilt) diamond flues. Modern addition in
re-entrant angle. Outbuildings: rectangular plan, south west
angle linked with cottage. Single storey, with
segmental-arched cartshed at basement level on long east
wall, 4 slit ventilators above; 3 doorways (one enlarged) to
west elevation. Piended roof.
All roofed with graded slates.
