Architect Probably Walter Newall, circa 1830. Courtyard
steading with farmhouse incorporated at west end of south
range. All rubble-built with ashlar dressings; painted;
roofed with graded slates.
Farmhouse: originally a single storey 3-bay cottage enlarged
probably by Charles Howitt circa 1860 with south wing built
against west most bay, porch in re-entrant angle, and walls
heightened with saw-toothed skews. Sash windows with lying
pane glazing. End stacks. Steading: tall north range with
barn cartshed, 3-bay stable and glazed loft openings. Other
ranges all single storey; west and south ranges adjoin house,
haybarn built against west wall of former, cart opening at east
end of latter. East range has openings mostly blocked. Detached
small shed within courtyard beside house. Cobbled courtyard.
Attribution to Newall and to Howitt on stylistic grounds.
