Earlier to mid 19th century with later alterations and additions. Single storey broadly-droved ashlar with polished ashlar dressings, 2-bay lodge adjacent to broad ornate cast-iron gates. Modern platformed line-rendered addition to W. Base course to lodge, mutuled eaves course.
N ELEVATION: broad canted bay positioned to centre of elevation, formerly with door and Doric columned advanced doorpiece to centre with windows flanking, now with window to centre. Boarded door in bay to left.
E ELEVATION: 4-bay; blinded window in bay right of centre and to outer right (painted astragals). Window in bay to inner left and boarded door to cat-slide roofed addition to outer left.
S ELEVATION: 3-bay. Cat-slide roofed addition in bay to right with boarded addition in return angle to centre. Platformed line-rendered addition in bay to left with window.
12- and 8-pane timber sash and case windows. Slate piended rood with ashlar coped stack at apex.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1995.
GATE AND GATEPIERS: double ornamental cast-iron gates with curvilinear top and gilded shaft-heads. Square-plan cast-iron gatepiers with gilt ornamentation, with base course, coping and urns with cherubs seated to sides. Swept heads to pedestrian gates to either side with further square-plan gatepiers, as before with pyramidal coping (no urns). Coped quadrant dwarf wall with ornamental railing (gilt shaft-heads) with ashlar panelled and pyramidal capped gatepiers to outer ends.
The building appears on the 1st edition OS map, and stylistically, it possibly dates from earlier 19th century.
