Small, two storey, square plan building partly set into the hillside to the east of the Taybank Hotel (LB5599). Rubble built (mostly slate) bedded in mortar and rendered with a four-sided slate roof. Gothic pointed blocked windows with a timber boarded door at the south side.
Information from Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust suggests the structure was a former gunpowder battery (store) for the Dunkeld quarry and the Buildings of Scotland calls it 'The Magazine'.
Repair works were carried out by the Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust circa 2000 and there is a blue plaque on the south elevation noting its name as 'The Magazine'.
The previous listed building record description noted that the building featured painted tracery however this is no longer apparent (2024).
Minor update to listed building record in 2024.
