These gates date from the 1730's and originally gave access to Dunkeld House. This house was an important building by Sir William Bruce dated 1679 built for the Earl Atholl. Believed to be Scotlands first brick building it fell into ruin and was demolished in the early 19th century. The gates were erected at the Cathedral c1832.
