Description

William Alexander, 1902. Single storey, T-plan, gabled lodge. Harled, slate roof. Margined angles, doors and windows, sash and case frames plate glass at bottom and multipane at top; half-timbered gables, deep eaves, plain bargeboards; cast-iton rainwater goods with decorative hoppers; margined and corniced stacks; pierced terracotta ridge tiles and finials.S ELEVATION: (modern) door at left re-entrant opening onto verandah with catslide roof supported by turned timber columns, window at right; corniced canted window at advanced gable at right.

W GABLE: corniced canted window at centre.

N ELEVATION: advanced gable at left with 2 windows; door at right re-entrant.

E GABLE: later lean-to at centre.

INTERIOR: not inspected.

Statement of Interest

The lodge is built in a similar style to the former Sidlaw Hospital. The mason contractor was John McPherson. See NOTES to Auchterhouse Park. Consent to extend the building was granted in january 1989.
