Dated 1837, porch addition late 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay former school, now village hall, with curvilinear gables. Harled with doved red sandstone dressings, and base course to front. SE elevation with bays grouped towards centre, window to each bay (centre window in place of former door) under eaves; lintel of outer right window bearing inscribed panel 'Misericordia et Pax'; piended porch (circa 1900) abutting right return gable with door to front, blank on return and to rear. Rear elevation with 3 irregularly spaced windows. Blank gables with masque corbel to polygonal ashlar stack at NE gable: later brick stack to SW gable. 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Purple slates; lead flashings.
Sited prominently in the hamlet of Redpath, built as a school, the building served this purpose until circa 1900. The schoolmasters desk and other associated equipment survive. The date can be found on the interior above the former door at centre. Listed category B for its historical interest in the hamlet, little altered form, decorative gableheads and apparent survival of interior details.
