Description

Early 19th century, large tall cylindrical rubble ice house built into hillside. Rubble; bowed projecting lower outer chamber with centre door at north (facing onto River Halladale). Conical turf roof. Ramp to rear leads to wallhead ice chute.

Interior; stone flagged floor to semi-circular outer chamber; conical interior.

Statement of Interest

Unusual form for commercial ice house. Still in use as such.
