Description

1824. Large vaulted single chambered ice house built
into side of slope; coursed rubble with ashlar dressings.
Noth facing, with wide curved and coped frontage with
off-centre door and slightly later small shuttered window
to right; projecting wing walls from small
semi-circular court enclosed by coped rubble wall; wide
entrance with plain gate piers and simple cast-iron
double gates. Turf roof; ice chute to rear.

Statement of Interest

Built at cost of $100. Similar ice houses at Brora and Little Ferry.
