Description

Probably Peddie and Kinnear, circa 1889, and probably in
a reworking of an earlier lodge. Single storey,
square-plan. White painted harling with cream sandstone
ashlar dressings; chamfered arrises to openings. Main
elevation 3-bay symmetrical; bowed doorway bay at centre
with 2-leaf door and small windows flanking; windows in
outer bays. Roadside elevation with tripartite bowed
window to left and bipartite to right. Piend roofed
porch to side with further doorway porch flanked by
windows in outer bays. 8-pane glazing pattern to sash and
case windows; grey slates to pyramidal roof; ashlar
stack at centre.

Statement of Interest

Architects almost certainly Peddie and Kinnear, who were

working on the mansion in 1889. North Lodge in similar

design but with natural harling and slates, providing

variety on a theme.
