1897. 2-storey house, 3 asymmetrical bays, double piled with
further gabled extensions to rear. Dark rubble, contrasting
polished ashlar dressings, chanelled ashlar angle margins.
Gabled frontage with projecting west bay and off-centre porch
linked to contemporary small glazed sun room at left by
shallow lean-to with tiled roof and decorative cast-iron
cresting. Canted bay in ground floor, west gable, with
decorative ashlar parapet. Venetian type windows in 1st floor
gables with ashlar roundels above; small round cast-iron
dormer; projecting eaves with ornate brackets, barge-
boards and canted cast-iron rhones decorated with small
anthemion finials; similarly detailed acroteria; panelled,
corniced and hipped end stacks; slate roof.
Built by a Mr Fraser who made his money ostrich farming in
South Africa and originally named Rondeboch or Rhondesbosch.
Information per present owner (1981) House now serves as two
dwellings. Dormer as advertised in MacFarlane's of Glasgow
catalogue; other cast-iron goods probably from same firm.
