Description

Late 18th/early 19th century, small single storey octagonal
harled rubble watch house, ashlar dressings. Entrances in
west; small corbelled bowed oriel windows in south and east
facets, each with moulded lintel, 18-pane bowed glazing and
with centre pane projected from frame to accommodate lantern
light. Moulded wallhead cornice; pyramidal slate roof rising
from inner edge of wallhead.

Statement of Interest

Watch house situated by pier overlooking Loch Maree and

Letterewe landing place on southern shore. Very unusual

survival. Building now serves as garden store. Letterewe House

and estate buildings date from 18th cent. with many

subsequent additions and alterations.
