Description

Gate lodge; dated 1853. Asymmetrical 2-storey gate lodge,
coursed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. Projecting
gable SE bay with gabled porch rising full height in
angle. Depressed arched lintel to entrance with facetted door
jambs blocked at imposts and with some decorative
detailing in spandrels. Studded panelled door; plaque above
Gabled west bay with ground floor canted and crenellated bay
window; hoodmoulds to ground floor windows; 2-pane glazing;
simple barge boards; centre ridge stack; slate roof.
Gate piers; pair square tooled ashlar gate piers with
chamfered angles and shallow moulded pyramidal caps. Low
coped quadrants with spearhead cast-iron railings and
similar terminal piers.
