Description

A & W Reid, Elgin and Inverness, 1859-60. Single storey and
dormerless attic, 3-bay cruciform plan dwelling. Rubble with
contrasting tooled, red ashlar dressings.
Centre projecting gable to SE front with corniced tripartite
in ground floor and small round-headed keystoned window above
with blocked imposts; slightly lower projecting wings set
back, with entrance (right) and narrow window (left).
Similar tripartites in return NE and SW gables with small
keystoned occulus above. Rear gable with ground floor window
and centre round-headed window as front. Bracketted cills to
principal windows; lattice pane casements; projecting eaves
briefly returning across gables. Centre ridge battery of 4
tall octagonal corniced flues; slate roofs.
Coped walled service area to rear.

Statement of Interest

Contract plans signed and dated 23 March, 1959. Mansion now

ruinous, having had roof removed during 1930's.
