Late 18th to early 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan house on ground falling to NW continuing in terrace to W. Painted render with stone margins and coursed bull-faced rubble. Cornice and chamfered arrises.
NW (ROAD) ELEVATION: ground floor with 3 bays to left comprising window (converted from door) surmounted by classical frieze and cornice immediately to left of centre, small window above and windows to each floor in flanking bays (those to 1st floor abutting eaves). 2 windows to right at ground with single window above to outer right.
NE ELEVATION: broad blank gabled elevation with stack.
SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: bays to right with later lean-to porch to centre at ground, windows to flanking bays (that to left larger) and regular fenestration to 1st floor.
Bays to left with part-glazed timber door at right and window immediately to left, 2 windows at 1st floor and single storey projection at outer left.
8- and 12-pane glazing patterns (some lying-pane) and plate glass glazing, all in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped brick stacks with cans. Ashlar-coped skews.
Formerly known as 'Westwood'. Lilliesleaf had two inns when Groome was writing, at which time this building was the 'Black Bull Inn'. The corniced window, formerly a door, would have been approached by a forestair.
Recent (2002) re-harling revealed earlier fabric possibly of 16th century date.
