Description

Dated 1885. Single span bridge in Baronial style over Craigston Burn. Local red sandstone tooled ashlar with polished ashlar dressings. Ashlar elliptical arch ring with bull-faced voussoirs and keystone; stepped-crenellated parapet with semi-circular buttresses each end, also crenellated and each with small refuge. Monogram incorporating PU on E face: dated on W face. Approximate span:- 7.00m.

Statement of Interest

The new drive to Craigston Castle was established in 1885 (see South Lodge, Turriff Parish and notes to Craigston Castle, above). The monogram PU records the name Pollard Urquhart of Craigston Castle.

The Craigston Burn forms the boundary with Turriff Parish.
