Description

Circa 1880, possibly remodelling of earlier cottage. Single storey and attic, 3-bay cottage beside River Deveron. Harled, with Turriff sandstone dressings. Door to S, on E return of central, advanced, gabled porch. Windows flanking at ground. 3 windows at ground to rear, 2 gabled dormers to attic, breaking eaves. Small window to W gable at ground, bipartite with stone mullion to attic. Casement windows with lying-pane glazing. Grey slates; bracketed eaves, exposed rafters; coped central stack with 4 corniced, ashlar diamond flues.

Statement of Interest

In poor condition 1993. Probably used as a fishing bothy, with the adjacent West Cottage, Carnousie (listed separately). Buildings appear on the above map at Waterside; possibly associated with the laundry for Carnousie House which was sited to the NE (see OS Map, Banffshire, 1959).
