Description

Built between 1693-1700; widened to N circa 1807. Roadbridge,
3 unequal segmental arches spanning River Esk (outer arches for
flood relief - westmost arch the smallest). Squared rubble with
ashlar voussoirs and pointed cutwaters either side. Corbel table
on (original) S elevation stepped over arches; pilaster strips at
N over cutwaters. Parapets 19th century and splayed at
approaches.

Statement of Interest

MacFarlane manuscript 1726 describes this bridge as "built

about 26 years ago".
