18th century, rebuilt after fire early 20th century. Single storey and attic, 3-bay house with piended dormers and porch. Harled with painted margins.
SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Boarded timber door and windows to returns of porch at centre, windows in flanking bays; slate-hung piended dormers over outer bays. Low piended bay to outer right with modern window.
NW (REAR) ELEVATION: small window and door on return to right of piended porch at centre, windows in flanking bays and 3 dormers (grouped 2-1) above. Low piended, L-plan ancillary adjoining at outer left.
4-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped harled stacks with some cans.
Probably the public house, closed 1870, occupied by Ann Jack mentioned in the 1806 return. The present owner's grandparents purchased Chance Inn in 1902, and the interior was destroyed by fire some ten years later.
