Description

Earlier 19th century. Single storey and attic, L-plan, pattern book cottage, made irregular by later single storey addition at rear. Coursed rubble, stugged and margined ashlar dressings, addition harled, slate roof. 5-lying-pane sash and case bipartite windows to ground floor, outer jambes chamfered and rebated at S elevation; casements to attic, modern windows elsewhere. Hoodmoulds with label stops to S elevation openings. Deep eaves with exposed rafter and purlin ends, coped stacks.

S ELEVATION: boarded door with 2-pane fanlight to centre, flanked by bipartite windows.

W ELEVATION: gable to right with bipartite window to left, window to attic space; lower bay to left with window, rooflight, window and tall stack to left return gable; recessed addition extends to left with boarded door, window to left return gable.

E ELEVATION: gable to left blank, addition to right with window, swept roof and timber lean-to to re-entrant angle.

Statement of Interest

The house was conceviably built in 1834 as the mill house when Lundie Mill was rebuilt.
