Description

Mid 18th century. Single-span, semi-circular arch former road bridge over Knapp Burn. Rubble construction, irregular rubble voussoirs, parapets removed.

Statement of Interest

This bridge probably carried the Dundee to Perth road before the establishment of the Dundee to Perth turnpike in 1780-90, the route approximately followed by the present A85. There is a similar bridge listed below at Rossie Estate Sawmill. Part of a B group with New Mill of Knapp and the Mill House; see also NOTES to New Mill of Knapp.
