Description

Early 19th century remodelling of 16th/17th century tower
house, various 19th century additions (the most substantial
now demolished) and 20th century modifications. L-plan
harled, 3 storey block, single-storey projecting porch in
re-entrant angle, regularised fenestration on internal
face of L. East elevation, near central full height former
stair turret with enlarged windows, additional turret
corbelled above ground floor at south east, both conical
roofed. Tall stacks on gable ends. 3-storey circa 1865
projecting bay on south, red sandstone, corbelled oriel to
2nd floor. 2 storey, canted projection to west with hood
moulded windows in upper storey. Low service wing extends
south west. Re-constructed single-storey drawing-room
extension on north gable.
Interior: scale and platt stair around central wall with
rolled-moulded treads and 1708 date on newel. Some raised and
fielded panelling and a bolection moulded chimneypiece in
ground floor north room. A reset door(?) lintel, dated 1682
in 3rd floor west room.
