Description

S McGlashen, Edinburgh, circa 1919. Celtic Cross war memorial
in ashlar, set on square base of 4 steps. Trapezium pedestal
inscribed with names of fallen. 3 panels to shaft of cross,
with garland carved in centre panel. Plait carving to arms
of cross, linked by quatrefoil.

Statement of Interest

Prominently sited by Yester Parish Kirk. McGlashen designed a

similar Celtic cross in North Berwick, Victoria Road, in

1890, by the remaining porch of St Andrews Church, as a

memorial to Catherine Watson, who drowned in 1889.
