Circa 1575. L-plan tower house in random red rubble with cream, squared dressings. Rounded arrises to openings with relieving arches above. 3-storey, originally with stone vaulted rooms of which evidence remains. Entrance doorway in re-entrant angle of SW tower and main range with stone spiral stair. Round tower of- centre to left of N elevation with
spiral stair to 1st floor; small corbelled turrets tucked in
re-entrant angles, one formerly leading to 2nd floor. Plain elevations with irregular, asymmetrical openings. Hall was sited at 1st floor to N.
De-scheduled monument, 17 October 2002 - in ruinous condition. Allegedly built by Sir John Carmichael, whose initials and the date 1577 were apparently once carved on panel above the doorway, now blank. Plan akin to that of Corse Castle, Aberdeenshire.
