Description

Circa 1859. Single storey, gabled T-plan gate lodge. Squared,
snecked sandstone with droved grey ashlar dressings.
Chamfered arrises to openings.
S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: doorway at centre with advanced gable
bay with projecting rectangular bipartite bay with blocking
course to left; single window to right.
W ELEVATION: 2 windows in gabled advanced bay, shallow blank
recessed walls. Harled, pentice roofed addition to rear.
8-pane glazing to sash and case windows. Ashlar diamond panels
panels in gable heads; ornately moulded and raised to S
and W gables, the latter with initials HD. Timber barge
boards and eaves brackets. Slate roof. Ashlar pedestals to
polygonal brick stacks, 2-linked on W arm.
Retaining wall with quasi-obelisk gatepiers bearing ball
finials; decorative timber railings and gates.
