House 2-storey, 3-window reconstructed from single-storey to designs by John Inglis of Colluthie by David Innes and Thomas Lawson 1853, Schoolroom 1856 designed by Robert Morrison (the schoolmaster) to requirements of John Inlis, executed Innes and Lawson. Tall single-storey 3-window porch with finial W gable. Whin rubble, droved dressings, original glazing, slated; chimneys replaced in brick.
WATER PUMP: dated 1868. Unusual droved stone pillar with chamfered arises and rounded top with deep recess housing hand pump with delicate wrought-iron handle. Lead reservoir box dated and marked with maker's mark "Steel Cupar" and cast iron spout. Concrete well head and small brick structure adjacent.
The water pump is finely designed for its function and survives in good condition. The well lies to the south of the school to which it is presumed to be related. The school first appears on the first edition map with the water pump in evidence by the map of 1895. The water pump and well are found at NO 34575 17229.
