Quadrangular churchyard on N side of A74 and containing good
18th and 19th century stone monuments, some with elaborate
sculpture; also site of Pennershaughs Church. Set above steep
bank on N and W sides, enclosed on remaining sides by low,
rubble-built and ashlar-coped wall; modern gate and gatepiers
at W end of S wall; earlier gatepiers on E wall are square,
with pyramidal caps and iron gate.

Pennershaughs parish united with Middlebie 1609.
