Description

Built circa 1860 as lodge to Murdostoun Castle. Castellated. Lodge is single storey and basically L-plan clasping a tall 3-storey entrance tower which has hood-moulded shouldered doorway and crenellated parapet; body of Lodge has gable to driveway with narrow canted window with side lights. Mullioned windows both at ground and attic in gable to main roadway. Snecked rubble, ashlar dressings, deep-eaved slate roof, centre axial stack. Gatepiers are distinctive, castellated and gabletted, cast-iron gates; quadrant walls.

Damaged by fire and in neglected condition (1988).
