Description

Dated 1866. Cartshed and granary to W with single storey 3-bay cottage at right angles to S. Rubble with stugged and droved ashlar dressings. CARTSHED AND GRANARY: 5-bay. 4 segmental cart-arches at ground with blank bay to outer right; square, shuttered granary openings in each bay above; sliding machinery door across outer right arch. Pair of single storey cart bays/machinery stores adjoined to left, with timber lintels, S elevation with high forstair and doorway to granary; ventilation panel in gablehead with dated stone below.

COTTAGE: doorway at centre with windows flanking; gabled dormer windows above outer bays. 12-pane glazing pattern in sash and case windows. Pantiles; ashlar coped skews; brick end stack to cottage.

Statement of Interest

Saltoun East Mains farmhouse lies to W, listed separately. Cartshed, granary and cottage listed as attractive and unaltered example of a cartshed and granary with the unusual feature of cottage adjoining at right angles.
