Early 19th century, restored 1892. L-plan single storey terrace originally of 4 cottages, stepping up Main Street. Rubble with ashlar dressings. 4-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows. Timber mullions to bipartites. Red pantiles with slate eaves easing course. Ashlar coped skews and gable end stacks; beak skewputts.
W ELEVATION: 3 identical 3-bay cottages on roadside. Each with doorway at centre in classical doorpiece breaking eaves with blocking course and tablet; door set in recessed segmental panel. Bipartite flanking to left (enlarged 1892), single window to right. 1 Main Street, to N, adjoined to cottage at right angles, formerly separate, with gable end to W, slightly advanced, having bipartite window and shield in gablehead, initialled JF. 3 bays to N, each with window.
Built as part of General Fletcher Campbell's improvement plan for East Saltoun. Restored by John Fletcher, to whom the memorial fountain opposite is dedicated.
