Description

Dated 1510, with later parapet. Triple span bridge. Large blocks

of coursed sandstone; chamfered reveals to pointed arches; ribbed soffit to central arch. S side bearing heraldic, dated plaque to left of central arch (to Sinclairs). Flanking overflow (?) arches divided by buttresses. Rubble parapet with droved raised blocks interrupting,and coping; square piers terminating with pyramidal caps.

Statement of Interest

Important bridge linking Easter and Wester Pencaitland, spanning River Tyne. Parapet form common to many bridges in East Lothian.
