Description

1888. 2-storey house on corner site. Harled with grey ashlar dressings; chamfered reveals; cornice. 3-bay E elevation with corniced door at centre, flanked to left by stone mullioned bipartite, and to right by wide, segmentally arched window (shop window). Square 1st floor window above door; flanking windows breaking eaves in gabled dormerheads, that to left round arched to "PR" incised, that to right gabled and incised "88". Further corniced door on side elevation to left (shop door), with 1st floor window above. W and S elevations abutted by terraced houses.

Sash and case windows with small-pane upper sashes and plate glass below. Grey-green slates. Ashlar coped skews; crude attempts at scrolled skewputts; end stacks.

Statement of Interest

Apparently tailored to serve as shop in 1888. Listed for distinctive contribution to W end of planned village, at head of Ormiston Main Street.
