Description

Designed by Scott Sutherland and produced by H.H Martyn & Co. of Cheltenham, 1959, inscribed and dated. Bronze statue of soldier of the Black Watch on a polished ashlar sandstone pedestal, raised upon a dais approached by seven, wide brick and concrete steps and enclosed by low concrete coped rubble walls.

Statement of Interest

The inscription on the plaque at the front of the plinth reads 'To the memory of all ranks of the 4th and 5th Dundee and Angus Battalions of the Black Watch who died in the Second World War'. The memorial was originally situated to the north of Powrie Castle but was removed westwards to its present position when the A929 was re-aligned. Part of the original dais remains.

Listed building record updated to include reference to H.H Martyn & Co. of Cheltenham (2023).
