Statement of Interest

A good earlier 19th century gate lodge, situated at the entrance to the Blairquhan estate from Milton, and forming an integral part of the designed landscape of the estate. Originally called Near Lodge, it was extended in the 1930s by Sir James Hunter Blair.

Blairquhan (listed separately) was rebuilt by William Burn in 1821-4 for David Hunter Blair and Burn also designed the Old Bridge of Blairquhan (listed separately), adjacent to Milton Lodge, and some other estate buildings; he may have been responsible for this lodge and Blairquhan and Girvan Lodges (both listed separately), which are very similar.
