Description

Late 19th century. 2-storey, 5-bay terraced pair forming part of larger irregular terrace. Rendered with painted stone dressings. Base course; raised surrounds to openings. W (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: bays grouped 1-4; doorways in 2nd and 4th bays from left; modern panelled doors; plate glass fanlight to Chevoit House; 2-pane fanlight to Eildon House; single windows above doorways and in 1st, 3rd, and 5th bays from left.

E (REAR) ELEVATION: irregularly disposed windows; range of pitched roofed and harled outbuildigns (differing in height) adjoining to rear of Cheviot House; tiled roof to harled outbuildign to rear of Eildon House.

12-pane lying-pane sash and case winodws. Grey slate roof; brick ridge and mutual stacks; snowguard to E. Outbuilding slated.

Statement of Interest

Forms part of Main Street B Group extending on E side from Dunbridge House to the Plough Hotel. A photograph (see refs) of the neighbouring Plough Inn circa 1890 shows a much lower thatched structure on the site of Chevoit and Eildon Houses.
